The Cherry Tree

My wall installation, made from cut, mirror finish and coloured steel, was unveiled in April 2015 in The Atrium of Guy’s Hospital, London. It shows a cherry tree in flower.

The Cherry Tree

I wished to make a work for the hospital as thanks for the successful kidney transplant I had there 25 years ago and I chose this image as I believe that a cherry tree was planted by the family of my donor in her memory.  The tree also represents the donated kidney and the blossom changes from white to pink in the same way that a transplanted kidney changes colour on the operating table when attached to the blood vessels of the recipient.
