All over Wales there are springs and wells dedicated to saints. The waters are frequently associated with healing properties. Some of these wells, such at St Winefride’s Well, in North Wales receive thousands of visitors a year. Others are neglected and little survives but a few old stones and a boggy patch of ground. Many are called after local saints and legends are attached to them. Through 2015 I visited over 30 of these wells and have produced a series of images. In each I have used paints mixed with the water of the well being depicted. Some pictures are representational, others abstract. The pictures include collage – pages cut from an old Welsh Bible.
