I have looked for ways of addressing theological questions through art which by-pass language or use just the minimum number of words.
‘The Dawkins Delusion’ a version of a painting by Georges Rouault depicting the crucifixion, but made with collage from paper taken from a copy of Richard Dawkins’ book ‘The God Delusion’
Christ washing the disciples’ feet
‘The Green Man’ a pagan nature image often found as a carving in Medieval churches
A drawing on a page taken from prayer book dating from the reign of King George 111
‘The Agony in The Garden of Gethsemane'. One of the panel of 15 images forming a Stations of the Cross which, when reassembled forms the larger work ‘Forces of Creation’
‘The Miraculous Draught of Fish’ The Bible story tells of the apostles (the 12) meeting Jesus for the 3rd time after the Resurrection and catching 153 fish. The geometry of the painting includes an isocelese triangle 3 x 12. The hypotenuse is 12.37, which squared makes 153. 12.37 is also the number of lunar months in a solar year
The Head of John the Baptist
‘Golgotha’ made from seaweed found on Skaw Beach, Unst
