I completed ‘The Cherry Tree’ at Guy’s Hospital in Spring 2015. It is on a wall of Atrium 2 which is a large area with seats, coffee shop and tables used by staff, patients and families. The work commemorates all those who have been organ donors and I finished it to mark the 25th anniversary of when I was a patient receiving a donor kidney. I do not know the name of the donor, who I think of as ‘the friend I never knew’.
